Biography
My name is Dominic Martin. My friends and everyone who have met me, call me, "Dom." My mother and father (Sharon and David Martin) both are very supportive of me and push me toward success. My older brother Lexington, is a graduate from Western Oregon University. My younger brother Noah has autism. I coach him in baseball and make sure he is never singled out for something he, "can't" do, but in reality he can do it! I want to become a firefighter for my love of environmental science and the need to help those in my community. I feel it is the best way to not only be a good role model but to impact my community putting others first. In school, I'm taking I.B. courses to advance my education more than the average high school student. They are essentially freshman courses at universities. In keeping my GPA between 3.5-4.0, I set myself up for major success in academics for the cornerstone of my future. Education comes before football or baseball! I use those sports only to compliment my foundation for which I have been raised. I was given the honor and won the virtue award. This is for the student who would do anything he needed to do to succeed, a student who would help others more than himself, they are respectful to their fellow classmates as well as the staff and did everything they could do for their community. During my years of playing baseball, I was awarded the character award. It is only given to those who show sportsmanship both on and off the field of the play. I've been awarded academic student of the month twice as well as continuing my honor role status. I've been on the varsity roster since my sophomore year. My junior year I was selected team captain. I started in all 9 Varsity games. I play left guard for Gresham Union high school. In addition, I also play defensive tackle and nose guard in a 5-2 defense, racking up 26 solo tackles in a gap responsibility defense. I also have success blocking PAT's as you can see in my highlights. In addition I also long snap and play center. For the 2016 season I once again have been given the honor of Varsity Captain as I enter my Sr year. I love football, I want to play at the next level and I am training harder than ever to do so. There is no off season for me. I spend every day in the weight room, working on foot speed, technique & endurance. I'm considered a 2 sport athlete. Football and baseball. I play catcher, pitcher and first base for baseball. I NEVER want to limit myself on the field of play. Otherwise I will never reach my goals off the field of play. I appreciate you taking the time to read my bio and look forward to speaking with you soon. Regards, Dom
